LANGUAGE EDUCATION
The Spoken Word ELT Institute offers comprehensive English as a Second Language and English as a Foreign Language instruction via video. Our customized English language courses provide students with a rich, immersive, and communicative learning experience enabled by various multimedia tools. Our English language courses center on the cultural history and experiences of the student and promote a culturally sustaining pedagogical approach. The Institute offers three levels of English instruction and a specialized Business English course.

ORIGINS
Origins is a beginner-level English language course for Level A-1 and A-2 learners. The Origins program familiarizes students with the parts of speech, foundational vocabulary, and essential grammar structures to initiate a successful language acquisition journey. This introductory course covers greetings, numbers, alphabet & spelling, descriptive adjectives, basic prepositions, subject pronouns, question words, articles, essential vocabulary, possessive adjectives, time expressions, and more.
HORIZONS
Horizons is an intermediate-level course that focuses on increasing the student’s contact with the English language. The primary objective of this program is to advance the Level B-1 and B-2 learner’s receptive and productive skills. The Horizons course challenges students to develop their listening and reading comprehension skills, build an extensive vocabulary, produce written communication, and engage in various communicative activities. By leveraging authentic materials, this course extends learning to real-world scenarios.

RISE
Rise is an advanced-level English course that provides Level C-1 and C-2 students with the tools to accelerate comprehensive English fluency. This course elevates the student’s English proficiency level to enable presenting and exchanging information, ideas, and opinions for personal, professional, and academic use. Upon completion of the Rise program, students can extract meaning from texts, compare and contrast ideas, express opinions verbally and in writing, and derive the accurate contextual meaning of new words with multiple definitions. Students will also learn to use new vocabulary in written and oral communications and to organize and deliver compelling presentations on a selected topic.
BIZLINGUA
BizLingua is a customized Business English course. This program prepares Level B-1 and above students for successful business engagement. BizLingua will introduce students to various forms of business communications, including emails, letters, contracts, documents, media, and reports.

BizLingua teaches students the grammar and vocabulary to communicate confidently and effectively in business presentations, discussions, negotiations, and transactions. Students will acquire the verbal and nonverbal skills to interact professionally and ethically in business environments. This program integrates business-oriented communicative activities into the course syllabus, such as role-plays, debates, and brief presentations.

PEDAGOGY DESIGN
Much of the English language material today is marked by a discourse of colonization, centering on people of European descent. Marginalized communities must see themselves and their lived realities reflected in the language materials to connect with the new language.

The Spoken Word ELT Institute specializes in designing culturally relevant English language teaching methods and materials, focusing on Diasporic and Indigenous communities around the world. These materials are customized to the needs of the student population and can be commissioned by language instructors, administrators, and educational systems.
LECTURES & PRESENTATIONS
The Spoken Word ELT Institute studies the various intersections of human nature, technology, and language. The Institute's founder, Robyn Mosely, welcomes opportunities to share her research, articles, and insights at academic events, conferences, and through other digital mediums such as podcasts.
